Leather wants three things: to stay out of prolonged damp, to be wiped (not soaked) when it's dirty, and to be conditioned a couple of times a year. A pea-sized amount of neutral leather balm, worked in with a soft cloth, is plenty.
Printed and woven cloth — Ankara, Aso-oke — keeps its colour longest out of direct sun. Spot-clean with a barely-damp cloth and mild soap; air-dry flat. Our coated Ankara pieces can take a slightly firmer wipe.
Store bags stuffed lightly so they hold their shape, ideally in the dust bag they arrived in. Hang gele and headwraps rather than folding along the same crease every time.
Hardware (zips, clasps, D-rings) lasts longer with an occasional dry brush to clear grit. That's the whole routine.
